SOCIAL LAW

Social law contains all legal matters concerning the social safety in society.

Social law is part of administrative law and includes matters between authorities and individuals. A portion of social law relates to issues within healthcare, personal assistance, group housing, home care services, and elderly care. The Swedish Social Services Act regulates a large part of social law.

We often assist in matters concerning:

• compulsory care under LVU (Care of Young Persons Act)
• compulsory care under LVM (Care of Substance Abusers in Certain Cases Act)
• compulsory psychiatric care under LPT (Compulsory Psychiatric Care Act)
• appeals of decisions made by authorities
• cases where the social services have initiated an investigation

Justice Lawyers can provide legal assistance in matters concerning compulsory care and other social law proceedings.

Compulsory care and the forced placement of young persons are highly intrusive measures that affect an individual’s personal integrity and rights. It is therefore important that the affected individual receives a fair trial and is represented by legal counsel.

Justice Lawyers can assist and support you if you are involved in such a case. You may request us as your legal counsel before the court.

If the court does not appoint a public counsel, you may also engage us as your private legal representative.
